Coalición Canaria Lanzarote has condemned this Monday in a press release "the new attempt by the former turncoat councilor Juan Manuel Sosa to evade his responsibility in the return of the almost 300,000 euros that the Government of the Canary Islands claims from him for improper collections." In a recent letter submitted to the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Sosa has not only announced his intention to appeal the Order and Resolution of the Government, where it is allegedly stated "that he deceived the public administration, but now intends that the Cabildo pay what corresponds to him to return."

The nationalist party has assured that in the letter Sosa “will request precautionary measures to suspend the resolution challenged, offering as guarantee (bail) the amount of the assets that, if applicable, correspond to him to receive from the Island Council of Lanzarote.”

The nationalists have recalled that "this maneuver is identical to the one Dolores Corujo attempted in 2021 when, after promoting Sosa's defection to shield herself in the presidency, she proposed that the Cabildo pay for his deceptions."

That attempt was met with a forceful Legality Objection from the general Intervention of the Cabildo, which concluded, among other things, that “the president was not the competent body to approve the payments, that the remuneration regime could not be established retroactively and that said acts would be contrary to the legal system.”

The nationalists have stressed that it is "completely false that the reports were not sent to the Advisory Council." At the same time, he added that "the Advisory Council has the complete file, including the reports of the tailor-made suit they made for Sosa,” CC affirmed. Thus, the party has added that "the aforementioned body concludes that Sosa failed to fulfill his obligation to communicate that he was no longer a spokesperson, and that he took advantage of the administration's ignorance to continue receiving remuneration, breaking the principle of good faith.”

For its part, they have accused the socialist spokesperson in the Cabildo, Ariagona González, of "insisting on the lie assuring that “he did communicate it.” This is how González has emphasized it in different media, where she has tried to justify said lie, stating verbatim that “Sosa communicated that he was no longer a spokesperson, what happens is that those reports did not reach the Advisory Council.”

It is for this reason that Coalición Canaria has invited Arigona Gonzalez to show said communication, “from the certainty that they cannot do it because they know that they have always lied, while Corujo allowed herself to accuse us of an indecent campaign of harassment, persecution and political extortion,” the nationalists continued.

"What is clear is that the facts, now officially corroborated, demonstrate the veracity of the complaints of the nationalist formation and confirm Sosa's fraudulent action, as well as the complicity of those who support him," they have defended from CC. For this reason, he has demanded that Sosa "immediately assume his responsibility and return the 300,000 euros that he improperly charged, without pretending that public institutions cover his debt."
