The president of the Government of the Canary Islands, Fernando Clavijo, assured this Wednesday in Arrecife (Lanzarote) that the current Insular Hospital building will continue to have a health and socio-health use in the future but that it will not be "as we conceive it now".
Clavijo met with the president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Oswaldo Betancort, and the vice-president, María Jesús Tovar, to address issues such as housing, territorial planning, water, tourism, and health.
Within the framework of this meeting, he pointed out that the current building housing the Lanzarote geriatric center will not be as we conceive it now, "among other things because we have to improve it."
"We need to adapt it to the future needs of the population and we want the best possible quality of care," he pointed out in this regard.
The president said that a response must be given because "the building cannot be propped up or looked away from," insisting that they will do all of this "hand in hand with the professionals, patients, and institutions of Lanzarote."
