Clavijo advocates for "strengthening" public-private collaboration to boost the Canary Islands economy

The president of the Canary Islands, Fernando Clavijo, met this Tuesday with the president of the 'Spanish Confederation of Business Organizations', CEOE, Antonio Garamendi. During the meeting, he highlighted that "the promotion of public-private collaboration strategies as one of the axes for the Canarian economy to advance" and linked it "to the improvement of productivity, infrastructure, the penetration of renewable energies, as well as employability."

The Canarian president analyzed during the meeting, which was also attended by the vice president of the Government of the Canary Islands, Manuel Domínguez, as well as the president of the 'Canary Islands Confederation of Entrepreneurs' (CCE), Pedro Ortega, and the president of CEOE in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Pedro Afonso, the "challenges" of the Canarian economy for this 2024 "in a year, recognized, in which curves are coming and for which we have to be prepared and look for ways of working from dialogue and consensus with economic and social agents."

During the meeting, the windows of the 'Economic and Fiscal Regime' were also discussed. In this sense, the vice president of the Government and Minister of Economy, Industry, Commerce and Self-Employed, Manuel Domínguez, pointed out that the REF continues to be "a pole of attraction for foreign investment that today only represents 0.3 in our territory in our archipelago" and that the Canary Islands aspires to "continue increasing."

Digitalization as a way to improve the "productivity" of companies and also of the public sector, as well as the health of the tourism sector, the economic engine of the islands, were other issues discussed during the meeting held at the CEOE headquarters in Madrid.
