The mayor of Haría, Chaxiraxi Niz, has assured that the replacement in the mayor's office next June, which will be when it passes into the hands of the Platform of the Municipality of Haría (PMH), will be decided "by consensus" between the government group. Therefore, she does not anticipate whether it will be Pepe Torres who holds the baton or, on the contrary, it will be Evelia García, who was the second on the PMH list.

It should be remembered that Víctor Robayna is currently the acting mayor of the northern municipality, since Chaxiraxi Niz is on maternity leave. However, the mayor has announced on Radio Lanzarote – Onda Cero that she will return to her post on May 16, a month before the replacement in the mayor's office. "You never stop being linked, not officially present but always aware of several issues," she says.

In addition, Niz has announced which areas she will hold once she hands over the baton, which will be Social Welfare, Senior Citizens, Equality and Local Police. "I know there is a lot of work in the Police, but I like to have those challenges of improving in everything possible a body that we have to have at 100 percent, operational and happy by the institution," she points out.

Chaxiraxi Niz assures that she has a "good relationship" with the leader of the PMH, Pepe Torres. "They always ask me the same thing", says the mayor, who recognizes that she has two different parts with the former mayor of Haría. "One is that of a lifelong neighbor, because I have known him since I was a child, and in the political sphere we have points in common, but different philosophies because we are from different eras, it is normal that there are differences," she explains.

Finally, in relation to the next elections next year, Chaxiraxi Niz affirms that "you always have to be prepared". "One of the problems of politicians is that they only talk about it in the last year, and it is from when they start working," she says.

"I think that the population wants a change, and that it is not the last year to start taking out knives and not for the work, but for the conflict and the lack of respect that many times, sadly, is the example we give," concludes Chaxiraxi Niz.
