Coalición Canaria (CC) Yaiza has reported that the City Council will have to return 356,000 euros earmarked for the training of unemployed people due to the manifest inability of the municipal government of UPY.

These programs are financed with public funds managed by the Canarian Employment Service, and their objective is to offer unemployed individuals an opportunity for training and professional experience in sectors with labor demand in the Canary Islands.

The municipal spokesperson for the nationalist party, Emilio Machín, has lamented that "the disastrous management by Óscar Noda's governing group has prevented offering a labor contract and qualification through the PFAE programs to a significant number of people in the municipality of Yaiza who are seeking employment."

In this regard, she stated that "last year, 60 residents of Yaiza were able to access employment and obtain professional certificates thanks to these programs, which combine theoretical training with work experience in areas such as home help, social revitalization, or gardening."

Doubts

However, "the doubts generated by Sánchez's government's modification of the regulations on training contracts caused Óscar Noda to opt for the easiest path, the return of the money, to save himself work, despite the fact that the Canary Islands Government, presided over by Fernando Clavijo, offered legal alternatives that other municipalities did consider, which is why they have continued to successfully develop the PFAE in their municipalities."

CC Yaiza has denounced that this situation demonstrates "a clear lack of foresight and management on the part of the current UPY government group." "It is not the first time that our municipality has lost essential resources due to a lack of political initiative. We are talking about money that was coming directly to improve the employability of our neighbors, and that now returns to the coffers of the Government of the Canary Islands due to pure negligence," the spokesperson stressed.

"Yaiza needs leadership, efficiency, and commitment to the people. We cannot allow the apathy of the UPY municipal government group, led by Óscar Noda, to prevent providing job placement opportunities and qualified training to unemployed people in our municipality," Emilio Machín concluded.
