The Canarian Coalition in the municipality of Tías has warned of the complaints being made by Tegoyo residents who live near the hostel and picnic area about "noise, music, or any other disturbance" that prevents them from getting "nighttime rest." This is according to CC spokesperson, Mame Fernández, who blames this situation on the regulatory ordinances of the municipality for being "contradictory."
Fernández insists that while a coexistence ordinance for the municipality requires ceasing "domestic, industrial, and commercial noises" at 10:00 PM, the ordinance for the use of Tegoyo allows its use "from Tuesday to Sunday and holidays until 3:00 AM." Residents who live in the area have to endure "noise caused by activities" in the picnic area and hostel.
Faced with this problem and the complaints from residents, CC presented a motion to the Tías City Council plenary session, which was not admitted. The government group considered that it had been presented one day after the commission prior to the plenary session, according to Fernández, so it rejected it. However, the motion will be debated in the next plenary session.
To end this problem, CC proposes that the schedules be modified and regularized to allow the rest of the affected residents and also the activities in Tegoyo under the "basic rules of coexistence and respect." Therefore, it proposes that the ordinances be applied in an "equal manner," modifying the one for the use of the Tegoyo picnic area to be comparable to the coexistence ordinance, which would imply not being able to make noise in this area after 10:00 PM.
