“We have to make decisions, we cannot continue to look the other way”. This is how the Canarian Coalition, as a government partner of the Arrecife City Council, has referred to the situation of the Argana Pavilion, which remains closed and with worrying deterioration. The nationalists - who manage the Sports area, delegated to Rosmen Quevedo - wanted to make this claim public, pointing out that they will transfer it to their government partner and in particular to the mayoress, Ástrid Pérez.

“We promised to try to resolve it in the electoral campaign and now that we have the responsibility, we are going to put in place the measures to make it so”, said the spokesperson for the Canarian Coalition in the City Council, Echedey Eugenio.

The party defends that the concessionaire company of the management of the Argana sports pavilion must be required to “execute the works that would lead to their opening imminently, within the percentage that the law allows as a contractual modification”, and affirms that this will be transferred to the mayoress.

“The City Council cannot wait eternally", says CC, which defends that it is necessary to “set dates” and if they are not met, resort to the “plan B”, which would involve “more drastic” measures, initiating “the corresponding procedure for the cancellation of the contract”.

In this regard, they recall that after 15 years of “inconveniences and irregularities”, finally in 2018 the concession for the management of this space was approved to the company Clece, “without any progress having been made to date in the execution of the reform project".

This reform is essential to reopen the pavilion, which was handed over at the time with significant defects in the work, carried out under the Mayoralty of María Isabel Déniz. In fact, these “irregularities” to which CC refers were investigated in the Unión case, for the alleged cost overruns and bribes to the former nationalist mayoress and other City Council workers, which are pending trial.

Finally, the facility had to be closed due to these damages and the City Council estimated the investment necessary to reopen it at 1.2 million. Now, CC demands that this project be executed.

To this end, he affirms that they will address the mayoress so that, “based on the requested legal report, the City Council acts to launch a facility that the residents of Argana and Arrecife should no longer do without”. In addition, he anticipates that they have already requested a meeting with the technical team "to start the procedure".
