Coalición Canaria at the San Bartolomé City Council publicly denounces the "terrible management by the governing group regarding the renovation works of the municipal pavilion". An action demanded for years by sports clubs, athletes, and the residents of the municipality themselves due to the severe deterioration of the ceiling, constant water leaks, and dangerous drips that prevented the normal development of sports activities

From the nationalist formation, the situation generated after a work that, "far from solving a historical problem, has aggravated it," is branded as "ridiculous." The rains last weekend "once again exposed a deficient execution: the already finished roof of the handball court flooded again, demonstrating an alarming lack of supervision and control by the mayor and his team."

The spokesperson for Coalición Canaria in the San Bartolomé City Council, David Rocío, recalls that "these actions, now poorly managed by the governing group, were made possible thanks to the firm demand of Coalición Canaria".

"It seemed that, finally, in 2025, the renovation of the pavilion was going to be a long-awaited reality, but what we are facing today is an example of mismanagement and institutional neglect," he states

Rocío recalls that the City Council "publicly committed to carrying out the works during the summer so as not to harm sports clubs, their youth teams, and official competitions. However, the reality has been very different, with an unjustifiable four-month delay." "They promised planning and respect for municipal sports, and they delivered improvisation and chaos," Rocío points out.

Coalición Canaria also denounces as "absolutely unacceptable that **the City Council did not give prior notice of the start of the third phase of the roof replacement**, corresponding to the wrestling ring, preventing the affected club from reorganizing its quarry, its management teams, and official competitions"."This way of acting shows a total lack of respect for the sports clubs in the municipality, which support grassroots sports with enormous effort and their own resources," emphasizes the nationalist spokespersonFurthermore, the nationalist party recalls that "these works directly affect a team that competes in the top national division, such as the Club Balonmano Zonzamas, a benchmark for women's sports in Lanzarote with national projection." "The mayor committed to the club, on its 40th anniversary, to carry out the works following a specific schedule that would avoid sporting prejudice. Today that commitment is unfulfilled," laments David RocíoFrom Coalición Canaria, they demand "responsibility, planning, and respect for municipal sports" from the San Bartolomé City Council."The works were necessary and urgent, but their execution is proving to be a clear example of improvisation, mismanagement, and institutional neglect towards those who have been demanding decent facilities for years," concludes David Rocío.
