The Local Committee of Canarian Coalition in Yaiza, through its local secretary and spokesperson for the municipal group in the City Council, Emilio Machín, requests the mayor of the municipality to "comply with his obligations" at the head of the institution and proceed with the immediate payment of social aid and study transport corresponding to municipal workers.
These aids, included in the agreement and commitment acquired with the public employees of the Yaiza City Council, should have been paid in December of the expired year. However, as of today, those corresponding to the 2025 fiscal year continue without having been deposited, affecting approximately 170 applications that have already been approved and are still pending payment.
From Canarian Coalition they consider "unacceptable this situation and recall that the fulfillment of labor agreements and of the commitments acquired with the municipal workers is a basic obligation of any local government".
In the words of Emilio Machín, “the mayor must focus on managing the City Council and fulfilling his responsibilities, among them ensuring that municipal workers receive in a timely manner the aid that corresponds to them by agreement.”
From Canarian Coalition they regret that, "instead of that, the mayor prefers to dedicate his efforts to mere posturing, trying to publicly stage that he leads matters that are not even within his competence such as, for example, the acquisition of housing in the municipality".
“The purchase of homes has been possible thanks to the budgets of the Cabildo de Lanzarote and the support of the Government of the Canary Islands, not to the management of the mayor of Yaiza,” they emphasize from CC.
For the nationalist formation, "the priority must be to solve the real problems that affect the functioning of the City Council and its workers, instead of focusing on generating headlines that do not reflect the institutional work that is being carried out by other administrations".
