Oswaldo Betancort announces the commitment to recover the wrestling ground, once he takes office as president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote.

The spokesperson for the Canarian Coalition in the Arrecife City Council, Echedey Eugenio, has announced that the nationalist party will demand that the acting president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Dolores Corujo, order the cessation of the work that the first island corporation is carrying out in the Lanzarote Sports City, where they are proceeding to cover with concrete the Canarian Wrestling ground that is located in the aforementioned facilities, the only infrastructure in the capital dedicated to this sports practice.

Eugenio has expressed his concern about this action that is being carried out by the first island corporation, "especially considering that the current government is in office and will cease in the coming days."

For his part, the elected president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Oswaldo Betancort, has announced his commitment, once he takes office, "to return to normality this island space dedicated to the vernacular sport, since one of our premises will be to guarantee its continuity through political actions that promote the practice of Canarian Wrestling and not the opposite."

For the nationalists, it is regrettable that the only measure taken during the recently concluded legislature regarding the vernacular sport by Alfredo Mendoza, non-elected acting Sports Councilor of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, who comes from the world of Canarian Wrestling and who also intended to be mayor of Arrecife, has been the elimination of the only active infrastructure in Arrecife for its practice.

The Canarian Coalition is perplexed by this situation and wonders what is the reason for the PSOE to take actions against one of the most representative sports of Canarian culture. According to Echedey Eugenio, "this measure demonstrates the lack of support for a sport rooted in the tradition and identity of the Canary Islands."

From the Canarian Coalition Arrecife, it is recalled that "our councilor of the Sports Area in the capital of the island, Rosmen Quevedo, had begun to work in this last legislature on the implementation of a municipal school of Canarian Wrestling and the creation of a team in Arrecife", which shows the interest of the Canarian Coalition in promoting and promoting this native sport.

Faced with this situation, the Canarian Coalition has announced that it will present motions both in the Cabildo of Lanzarote and in the Arrecife City Council, with the aim of demanding the immediate halt of the works that threaten the practice of Canarian Wrestling in the capital. The nationalist party hopes that these motions will receive the necessary support to preserve this important sports infrastructure and guarantee the continuity of this traditional sport in Arrecife.
