The Extraordinary Assembly of the Local Committee of the Canarian Coalition in Yaiza elected this Thursday, by majority, Emilio Machín as a candidate for Mayor of said City Council in the elections of May 2023.
Visibly excited, Machín, after thanking the committee to which he belongs for its support and trust, stated that "I am taking this step because I have always wanted to improve my environment and the quality of life of the people in it. My dream is that things in my municipality go much better.”
In this way, he spoke of issues that remain to be done and others to be recovered in the south of the island, among which he highlighted issues as important as the cruise ship dock, the need for a center for the elderly in Playa Blanca, the fight for the General Plan or the work to ensure that Yaiza is consolidated as a first-class tourist municipality.
The also Secretary of Organization of the Local Committee, made a call for collaboration and the need to work side by side, and conveyed his gratitude to Ángel Domínguez, valuing his work and emphasizing that "Ángel has dedicated many years to the growth of this political formation to which he will continue to be linked and working with us.”
The event, held at the headquarters of the Canarian Coalition in Playa Blanca, was attended by the island secretary of Lanzarote, Migdalia Machín, and the local secretary of Yaiza, Mateo Ramón, in addition to the rest of the local secretaries of the different committees, the candidate for Mayor of San Bartolomé, David Rocío, the deputy spokesperson for the Nationalist Group in the Cabildo, Pedro San Ginés, the mayor of Teguise and other public and organic positions of the nationalist formation on the island.
In her speech, Migdalia Machín stressed that "we are very fortunate to be a party with many people prepared to govern, committed people, people from the town, people who work for people. Closeness, empathy, the ability to listen and, of course, confidence that Yaiza can be much better than it is, are vital.”
She also stressed that the Canarian Coalition is running in the elections to govern "because only from the government can decisions be made that will make our municipalities and our island much better than they are.”
The nationalist leader also called for unity and joint work and stressed that "we will have to solve many problems that have been left behind.”
Thus, she spoke of the situation of the General Plan, the transport problems, the concern about the latest demarcation of Coasts and access to Los Hervideros or the lack of investment in health, education, roads, etcetera, which are not keeping pace with the population growth of the municipality.
The local secretary of CC in Yaiza, Mateo Ramón, also spoke, who in his turn emphasized that politics is done in the street and not behind the desk of an office. He also took stock of the last three years and stressed that "the Canarian Coalition has played a very important role in all the things that have been achieved in Yaiza since, despite the stones that have been put in our way and hiding our work on many occasions, we have continued forward, for our neighbors and for our municipality.”
Yaiza thus becomes the fourth committee to start its electoral race, after Arrecife did so last June, with the election of Echedey Eugenio as a candidate for the capital's Mayor, and a few weeks ago, San Bartolomé, which once again trusted David Rocío, and this same week Tías, which appointed Amado Vizcaíno.
The Canarian Coalition continues with the calendar approved by the Insular Political Council, which marks the process of electing candidates to the different administrations in their different organic areas, in view of the elections of May 2023.
