Yaiza Siempre, Movimiento Renovador de Tinajo, and Compromiso por Haría join the alliance promoted by Coalición Canaria (CC) and Municipalistas Primero Canarias to jointly contest the next general elections on November 29, with the aim of strengthening the defense of the archipelago's interests in Madrid.

The three Lanzarote formations are among the organizations supporting the Declaration for Canarian Unity in Madrid, an agreement that brings together about twenty insular and municipal political forces around a common candidacy for the Congress of Deputies and the Senate.

The pact, promoted by the Mesa de Unidad Canaria, seeks to set aside political differences to build a common front that places the needs of the Canary Islands as a priority in the Cortes Generales.

The participation of Yaiza Siempre, Movimiento Renovador de Tinajo, and Compromiso por Haría strengthens the presence of Lanzarote municipalism in this alliance, which aims to give greater prominence to the islands' demands and defend their unique characteristics before the State.

The national general secretary of Coalición Canaria, Fernando Clavijo, highlighted the importance of generosity and understanding among the different organizations to reach an agreement that allows defending the interests of the Canarian citizenry above partisan differences.

For his part, the president of Municipalistas Primero Canarias, Óscar Hernández, stressed that the achieved unity is the result of a dialogue process initiated almost a year ago and defended the need to join forces to face the archipelago's main challenges.

Teodoro Sosa and Cristina Valido will head the candidacies

The joint candidacy for the Congress of Deputies will be headed by Teodoro Sosa for the province of Las Palmas, accompanied by María Fernández as number two. In Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Cristina Valido will repeat as the head of the list, followed by Jonathan Felipe.

Sosa highlighted that the agreement represents an important step to recover the unity of Canarian nationalism and strengthen the islands' capacity to defend their interests in Madrid.

Cristina Valido, for her part, defended the need to have representation that can claim the needs of the Canary Islands with its own voice, while María Fernández valued the plurality of the organizations that make up the agreement.

Housing, financing, and public services, among the priorities

The Declaration for Canarian unity in Madrid includes twelve common commitments that the signatory organizations will defend in the General Courts.

Among the main demands are access to housing, fair regional financing, the defense of the Economic and Fiscal Regime (REF), the development of the Statute of Autonomy, and the protection of Canarian singularities within the new European financial framework.

The agreement also includes maintaining the 75% discount for residents, free public transport, increased state investments, support for the primary sector, and the improvement of public services.

Likewise, the parties are committed to a solidarity-based response to the migratory challenge, an issue of particular relevance for the Canary Islands due to their geographical location and their status as the southern border of the European Union.

Lanzarote municipalism gains prominence

The incorporation of Yaiza Siempre, Movimiento Renovador de Tinajo, and Compromiso por Haría highlights the role of municipal organizations in building an alliance that aims to bring together the different political sensitivities of the archipelago.

With this agreement, the participating parties are committed to strengthening cooperation between municipalities and islands and presenting a more cohesive voice in Madrid in defense of the rights, needs, and opportunities of the Canary Islands.

The alliance between Coalición Canaria, Municipalistas Primero Canarias, and the adhering organizations thus opens a new stage of political collaboration ahead of the general elections on November 29, with the aim of placing the archipelago's interests above any other consideration.
