The deputy of Nueva Canarias-Bloque Canarista (NC-BC) Yoné Caraballo denounced this Tuesday, in the government control session in the plenary session of Parliament, the "disastrous" management of the Ministry of Health of Esther Monzón, of the director of the Canarian Health Service (SCS), Adasat Goya, and of the director of Human Resources of the SCS, José Ángel González. The progressive nationalist spokesperson on the matter conveyed, in the hemicycle, the demand of the 5,000 doctors called today to strike to stop the call for competitive examinations until the merit-based stabilization process is completed.
Yoné Caraballo firmly questioned Monzón, Goya and González for calling the competitive examination, for the moment in the medical sector of public health, without having previously completed the merit-based stabilization process. Yoné Caraballo denounced a breach of current regulations and the climate of uncertainty created, which has led today to the celebration of the first of the strike days called by the affected health professionals, 70 percent of the staff.
The NC-BC parliamentarian described the management of the Health officials of the Government of the two Canarian rights as "disastrous." He reproached the counselor and her management team for ignoring the demands of the doctors. He accused the director of the SCS of being "mechosito."
The health professionals, added Yoné Caraballo, "have done their homework." They have been working in the islands for 15, 20 and even 30 years, he warned, sustaining public health in very harsh conditions. That is the merit that already supports them for stabilization, in the opinion of the health spokesperson. What the council is doing, he denounced, is further precariousizing the sector and "forcing hundreds of doctors to stand today" at the doors of health centers.
"You, in addition, always tear your clothes saying" that Canarian doctors "must be retained here, that we cannot allow the flight of health professionals outside our islands, then they do what they want, such as this," he censured.
Caraballo referred that the resolution of December 2022 clearly establishes that the selective processes must be sequential and independent, that is, "one after another, and not overlapping" as the council does.
What does Caraballo demand from the Ministry of Health?
The Canarian deputy denounced that what "cannot be" is that competitive examinations are called "when they have not yet finished publishing" the final lists of allocation of places. That violates the rule and generates insecurity in professionals who "deserve certainty" about their future employment, defended the NC-BC deputy.
He demanded two immediate measures from Monzón. First, suspend the called competitive examination until the merit-based stabilization process is completed. The second, publish the final lists now of allocation of places for the doctors of the Canary Islands who have been working in the public system for decades.
