The Biosphere Reserve office has opened the application period for subsidies on a competitive basis, aimed at non-profit organizations that carry out their work in Lanzarote and La Graciosa, in actions aligned with the objectives of sustainability.
Associations and groups will have ten business days to present their initiatives, starting tomorrow, after the publication of the call for proposals this Monday, October 20, in the Official Gazette of Las Palmas (BOP). The initial budget for these grants is 76,730 euros.
According to the Councilor of the Biosphere Reserve, Samuel Martín, the intention of this line of financing is "to support actions that practically develop awareness and dissemination initiatives about the Biosphere Reserve in accordance with the MaB Strategy; actions that contribute to the research, conservation, and/or monitoring of terrestrial or marine biodiversity and ecosystems."
Proposals focused on the conservation and maintenance of the island landscape will also be financed; actions that favor the restoration of degraded spaces and ecosystems; projects that promote the sustainable and/or circular economy, those that promote land stewardship, and those that contribute to the conservation and environmental monitoring of soils.
The procedure for granting subsidies will be that of competitive bidding, whereby the concession is made by comparing and evaluating the applications submitted, in light of the established criteria and the limit of available economic credit.
