Presentation of the 'Traveling Together Association'

The new Asociación de Integración Social Viajando Juntos is born in Arrecife. The presentation was this Thursday, where its director, Adriana Romero, was present. The purpose of this association is to promote the labor insertion of bus driving personnel to improve the public transport service.

Thus, one of the initiatives of the Association is the launch of the project 'Drive your future, we accompany you'. The initiative has the collaboration of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, the City Councils of the island, the Canarian Employment Service, as well as the Asociación Acciones Unidas, the Spanish Association against Cancer and Fedemilanz.

As stated by the director of the association, Adriana Romero, "the objective of this initiative is to train about fifteen people, previously selected, for the obtaining of permit D, professional bus driving permit, as well as the initial CAP, facilitating the incorporation of qualified personnel to the transport sector on the island".

Currently, the project is in its first phase, where more than 50 interviews have been conducted to select the most suitable candidates. Of these, 15 have been chosen to begin their training. The plan not only offers instruction in driving, but also in essential transversal competences such as customer service and the basic use of foreign languages, something vital in an island where the tourism industry predominates.

Adriana Romero explained that "the intention is to promote labor insertion, reaching agreements with companies such as Intercity Bus Lanzarote, so that these professionals can join the workforce and offer higher quality services".

The presentation ceremony was also attended by the councilors of Transport and Social Welfare of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, Domingo Cejas and Marciano Acuña, respectively. Domingo Cejas stressed that "this is a very important initiative, as this project will help to meet the growing demand for qualified professionals in this sector".

In addition, he thanked the efforts of the organizations that make this initiative possible. For his part, Councilor Marciano Acuña congratulated the association's leaders and added that "it is an example of corporate social responsibility that will offer a job opportunity in the transport sector to vulnerable people".
