The Official Gazette of the Canary Islands (BOC) publishes this Friday the official announcement of the General Directorate of Coasts and Management of the Canary Maritime Space by which the request for concession for the occupation of goods of public maritime-terrestrial domain for the renovation of the Arrecife Theme Park, in the municipal district of Arrecife, is submitted to public information.
The mayor Yonathan de León celebrates that Arrecife is recovering this land next to El Reducto to create a large green, sports and leisure space next to the future auditorium, of which it already has the technical project, with an investment of nearly 10 million euros.
The first mayor, together with the Councilor for Tourism, Commerce and Sports, Eli Merino, have detailed that, with this great integral renovation of the well-known Theme Park, Arrecife will increase its sports and leisure facilities, together with huge shaded areas, much demanded in the capital.
"Under the stage of the former socialist mayor Eva de Anta, the City Council did not renew this concession that it already had since the 80s of the last century XX. If in the past, with that local socialist administration, the extension had been requested, the deadlines to intervene in Coastal spaces would have been agreed", they declare from the Consistory. During these last years the competences in matters of Coasts have been transferred from the Central Government to the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands.
The municipal government led by the mayor has requested "speed to the Canarian Executive, which is thanked for its collaboration to the team and positions of the General Directorate of Coasts and Management of the Canarian Maritime Space to give this boost to that necessary concession to launch one of the most important projects in this mandate, both for investment, as the recovery of a public space very frequented by residents and visitors."
Next to the area, the City Council of Arrecife ceded at the beginning of this mandate, a plot for the construction of the Congress and Culture Palace Ciudad de Arrecife, of which there is already a project, and an initial budget item in the current budgets of the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands.
Arrecife is committed to free, natural and sports spaces during this term
Yonathan de León pointed out that this great work in the Theme Park, together with the recent award of the project for the transformation of the green and sports area of Maneje, will make Arrecife "a capital with large, beautiful and accessible parks with trees, outdoor facilities, and areas dedicated to pets."
The Councilor for Sports, Eli Merino, has detailed the characteristics of the sports facilities that will be created with the modernization of the Theme Park.
In a special way, a calisthenics park area will be created, which will be the largest of those existing in Arrecife. It will measure 935 square meters and you can practice outdoor sports safely and comfortably.
