Arrecife will celebrate activities for the Armed Forces Day 2024 for the first time

The main event of the Armed Forces Day will take place this Saturday at 6:00 p.m., with a solemn lowering of the flag and tribute to the fallen.

Arrecife will host next Saturday, June 15, various activities organized by the Lanzarote Military Aerodrome, on the occasion of the celebrations of the Armed Forces Day 2024 and the 225th Anniversary of the Foundation of the Municipality of Arrecife, according to the Ministry of Defense.

These events, open to the general public, will take place in the José Ramírez Cerdá park, near the Music Kiosk, where you can visit a static exhibition of military material, use an F-18 flight simulator to experience the sensations of piloting a fighter plane, as well as attend a SAR rescue demonstration by a helicopter from the 802 squadron FF.AA. of the Gando Air Base.

The Music Unit of the Canary Islands Air Command, starting at 12:30 p.m., will offer a live concert in this same park, where they will perform different military and popular culture pieces. The main event of the Armed Forces Day in Lanzarote will take place at 6:00 p.m., with a solemn lowering of the flag and tribute to the fallen. Once the National Flag is lowered, the general chief of the Canary Islands Air Command, Francisco Javier Vidal Fernández, the authority presiding over the event, will hand it over to the Arrecife City Council, on the occasion of the commemoration of the 225th anniversary of the Foundation of the Municipality of Arrecife. This event will conclude with a military parade along Avenida La Marina.

Units of the Air and Space Force located on the islands of Lanzarote and Gran Canaria will participate in these activities.

10:00 a.m. Solemn raising of the flag.
10:05 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Static exhibition of military material.
10:05 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. F-18 flight simulator.
12:10 p.m. SAR helicopter rescue demonstration.
12:30 p.m. Concert offered by the Music Unit of the Canary Islands Air Command.
6:00 p.m. Solemn flag lowering ceremony and tribute to the fallen. The event will conclude with a military parade along Avenida La Marina, ending at the Arrecife City Council headquarters.
