The Mayor of Arrecife, Yonathan de León, received the Ambassador of the Republic of India in Spain, Dinesh K. Patnaik, in his office this Monday. The diplomat attended the meeting accompanied by a representation of the Hindustani Community residing in Lanzarote.
The official reception of the first mayor of the capital of Lanzarote coincides with the celebration of Holi, known as the festival of colors in India. In fact, the festival, which lasts two days, begins on the last full moon of the Hindu lunar month Phalguna, the eleventh month of the calendar.
The ambassador has signed the City's Book of Honor, in this year where the 225th anniversary of the founding of the municipality of Arrecife is commemorated.
The official reception offered by Yonathan de León to Dinesh K. Patnaik has allowed to learn more about the "significant investments" that Indian companies are making in Spain in sectors related to innovation, new technologies and knowledge transfer, among others.
The ambassador, who assumed diplomatic representation in Spain in January 2022, has learned more about the mayor's plans for the capital so that Arrecife can have a Free Zone linked to the blue economy, and its port. The mayor has highlighted the "high level of integration of the Hindustani community" residing in Lanzarote, where it is made up of about two thousand people, and its entrepreneurial capacity.
