The Arrecife City Council is conducting a careful satisfaction and perception survey on the Local Police in order to evaluate the services provided in terms of citizen security, and to allow the implementation of new measures.

This was announced this Monday by the mayor of the city, Yonathan de León, who, "with a premise assumed in his mandate, desires continuous improvement in citizen security and crime prevention, with a more immediate response from local agents".

The mayor, who is also the direct head of the Local Police, requests the collaboration of the neighbors by participating in this survey, contributing their opinions and suggestions online, in a citizen consultation process that will serve with the collected data for an internal self-assessment. After analyzing these responses, and knowing in detail the contributions of the neighbors, Yonathan de León will implement new measures that contribute to responding to citizen requests regarding security.

This survey, whose data and opinions will be processed anonymously by the Local Police of Arrecife, will serve to evaluate the services provided by local officers, and the degree of knowledge, perception, and satisfaction of the residents in this municipality, the most populated on the island of Lanzarote. With the survey, furthermore, the Arrecife City Council wishes to know directly if citizens report when they observe the perpetration of possible crimes, and if the corresponding complaints are filed with the police forces.

Yonathan de León calls on residents to make their contributions through this survey where we wish to “listen to the citizens, but also to the professionals who are part of our Police Force, and the existing units”.

The mayor has confirmed that, after the results of the survey, "he assumes a public commitment to implement measures that cover those demands raised by the neighbors about their Local Police".

Survey aimed at citizens

Those who wish can participate in this survey in digital format, through this web form. Citizens who are part of this public consultation and survey process must answer the topics raised in the questionnaire.

Yonathan de León has underlined that in the coming weeks he will announce new measures that he is implementing in the Local Police to reinforce the presence of the Police, measures that include more agents with the increase in staff, as well as the strengthening of new means, vehicles and technology, among others.

In recent times, and during this term, the Local Police has dismantled numerous drug dens that were sources of nuisance and citizen insecurity, it has new police units to prevent violence in sports, and has been a pioneer in the province of Las Palmas in the implementation of Tutor Agents for the prevention and protection of minors in the surroundings of school centers.

The Local Police of Arrecife has stood out with its rapid interventions that have blocked home occupations with a 24-hour service implemented since the past year 2025.

According to data from the Ministry of the Interior, Arrecife has become the only municipality on the island where crimes have decreased.
