Arrecife promotes the reforestation of neighborhoods with the planting of 50 flamboyant trees

The Arrecife City Council has received the donation of the first 50 trees that are being planted in different neighborhoods of Arrecife. The mayor of the city, Yonathan de León, and the councilor of Parks and Gardens, Roberto Herbón, have announced this Tuesday, April 22, where World Earth Day is commemorated, this initiative to promote more donations of trees by citizens, and particularly, companies, within their Corporate Social Responsibility programs.

The mayor of the city, Yonathan de León, has remarked that "one of his objectives for this mandate is to continue increasing the green areas of the city, planned in the supplementary urban plan of Arrecife, and the creation of new promenades with shade, through the eco boulevards, whose planning is underway with a series of works from the Department of Public Works, of which he is directly responsible".

To create greater awareness, the Department of Parks and Gardens, led by the second deputy mayor, Roberto Herbón, is encouraging companies to develop tree donations within their Corporate Social Responsibility programs. Thus, within this initiative, the city has already received the donation of the first 50 trees contributed by the producing firm of Navilan, which has wished to join this municipal proposal to strengthen the reforestation of the neighborhoods of Arrecife. These donated trees have had the prescriptions of the Department of Parks and Gardens, which is proceeding to plant these flamboyant trees in different areas of the city.

Symbolically, the planting of the first donated specimens has been carried out in the outer environment of the Adolfo Tophan School, in an enclave near the Vía Medular, where the neighborhoods of Altavista, El Lomo, Titerroy, Valterra and Los Alonso converge.

From the City Council, the mayor emphasized, "companies, groups or citizens are encouraged to join this municipal initiative to increase the green areas of the municipality." Along with the projects of new works in progress, where the installation of tree pits for new trees is planned, citizen and business collaboration always reinforces the sensitivity so that Arrecife has more green areas so that it is a green lung in the medium and long term, one of the objectives that is sought in actions to commemorate World Earth Day.
