The Arrecife City Council has put out to tender the contracting of a 'Service for the design and development of actions to prevent addictions in the educational field'.
The Consistory points out that the project is budgeted at 254,960 euros, from the City Council's own funds, and aimed at 6th grade of Primary School, Compulsory Secondary Education and Basic Vocational Training.
The mayoress, Astrid Pérez, points out that the initiative is part of the Municipal Plan on Addictions that Arrecife has been provided with “after 12 years without anything being articulated by the City Council in this matter”, and underlines the importance of it being aimed “not only at students, but also at families and teachers, as their role is fundamental in this area.”
“One of the aims of the aforementioned Plan is to raise awareness among young people of the risk of social exclusion involved in addictions, not only in terms of drugs and alcohol, but also others that are not usually detected as clearly as online gambling, betting shops or the uncontrolled use of social networks”, says the Councillor for Social Services María Jesús Tovar.
“Our objective is to promote healthy lifestyles among young people through preventive actions such as the one we are going to undertake now in the educational field, and which will be followed by other specific actions in the family, community, leisure, work and communication fields, paying special attention to the gender perspective, multiculturalism and the needs of the most vulnerable population”, adds Tovar.
The provision of the service will begin in the 22-23 school year and will also cover the 23-24 school year, with the possibility of extending it for another year. It must be taught by qualified teaching staff and specialised with degrees in Social Education, Pedagogy and Psychology or equivalent.
Entities interested in applying for the contract have until 13:00 on Monday 22 August to submit their bids. The announcement and conditions of the tender can be consulted on the Public Sector Procurement Platform.
