Arrecife will premiere in the summer of 2025 shade areas in the playgrounds. The municipal government is fulfilling one of the demands of the rabbit families. It will provide shade areas to the playgrounds throughout the city where the little ones enjoy their leisure time. The City Council has already announced the tender for these new facilities, with an investment that exceeds one million euros.
The Mayor's Office has published in the Public Sector Contracting Platform the official announcement for the Public space conditioning project with fixed open structures for the municipality of Arrecife with 3 lots. With these facilities, which have been promoted by the Department of Children's Parks, directed by the second deputy mayor and councilor Roberto Herbón, the children's spaces located in all the neighborhoods of Arrecife, and in the city center, will premiere throughout the summer of next year these new equipment that will contribute to reducing solar radiation on playground users. Companies interested in competing for this tender have until December 2 to submit their proposals.
Solar radiation - due to the geographical location and latitude of the Canary Archipelago, is very high and frequent in the islands. For this, the Arrecife City Council has designed this plan to cover with structures that generate shade over the children's attractions. Thus, families with small children can have greater security and prolong play times by not exposing the children to solar radiation so much.
Modernization of all playgrounds
Mayor Yonathan de León has highlighted that there are many works underway to modernize the neighborhoods, with actions in accessibility, renovation of the asphalt pavement in about 150 streets, construction of new public facilities, reform and expansion of sports facilities, and renovation of playgrounds, providing them with synthetic pavement, safer and more hygienic. The investment in the improvement of playgrounds is close to 3 million euros, joining the integral renovation of the park areas and this new work of installation of shade areas. For his part, Roberto Herbón, is pleased with the many improvements that are being achieved in all playgrounds. The rofe surfaces are a thing of the past, he emphasized.
The installation of the new structures, which must be completed in the second semester of 2025, will allow the playgrounds of the capital of Lanzarote greater protection and comfort for children and families, extending the time of use and enjoyment of these spaces throughout any time of the year. Similarly, the councilor responsible for the Children's Parks has indicated that shade in the parks has been a priority of the Municipal Government, and of the families, to ensure greater protection of children against ultraviolet rays.
