The Cleaning Department of the Arrecife City Council has implemented a new camera system in eight strategic points for waste disposal and vehicle traffic.

This system aims to reinforce security and control possible infractions around these points, responding to the recent episodes of fires and uncontrolled spills in the city.

The fires have affected vehicles and nearby homes, while the uncontrolled spills have caused health and bad image problems in the most affected areas.

The cameras will be mobile, rotating quarterly through the most problematic locations, and will be evaluated and supervised by the Local Police. In addition, this system is designed to strictly comply with data protection regulations, ensuring that the rights of citizens are respected at all times.

The Councilor for Cleaning, Jacobo Lemes, explains the importance of this project, stating that "we are facing a critical situation in certain areas of Arrecife, and these cameras will help us identify and sanction those who do not respect the rules of coexistence."

Likewise, the councilor assures that "at the same time, we want to send a clear message that we will not tolerate more uncivil acts that harm the well-being of our neighbors. We count on citizen collaboration so that this measure has the greatest possible impact."

This plan will not only deter offenders, but also conduct a thorough evaluation of the operation of the cameras and the flow of vehicle traffic, with a view to a possible expansion of the project to include more areas of the city.

In addition, the councilor adds that "the initiative is part of a broader effort to optimize waste management in Arrecife and continue moving towards a cleaner and safer city."

"With this measure, we not only seek to punish offenders, but also to generate greater awareness about the importance of caring for our environment," concludes Lemes.
