The Department of Urban Planning of the Arrecife City Council has announced that it is developing the old town adaptation project (Phase 2) of the capital of Lanzarote, a strategic initiative that seeks to improve urban spaces in the municipality.

The area has reported that in the last session of the Local Government Board, progress was made on the project for the adaptation of the old town, in a process of inter-administrative cooperation with the Cabildo de Lanzarote.

Within this project, action will be taken on several streets in the municipality such as Sol street, Resguardo street, Grieta street and Otilia Díaz street, where works of rehabilitation and improvement of the urban environment will be carried out, contributing to modernize infrastructures and reinforce the quality of life of the residents.

The Councillor for Urban Planning, Maciot Cabrera, has stressed the importance of this institutional collaboration and has emphasized that “this cooperation with the Cabildo allows us to advance more agilely and effectively in the transformation of the old town. We are betting on a more accessible, more cared-for, and people-oriented city.”

Furthermore, in the same session, various urban licenses have been authorized that will allow the creation of three new homes in the municipality, thus contributing to expanding the residential offer in Arrecife.

In relation to this aspect, Cabrera has highlighted that “the generation of new housing is a priority. We continue to facilitate responsible urban development to respond to the existing housing demand in the city”.
