The Department of Seniors of the Arrecife City Council, led by Rosmen Quevedo, has started the distribution of 200 places for the 2024-2025 Social Tourism Program, an initiative that seeks to promote the well-being and social integration of the elderly through tourism. The distribution of places took place this Thursday, October 3, in an event held in the hall of the Youth Center, which brought together dozens of seniors interested in participating in this enriching experience.

This program, with a solid trajectory, aims to offer the elderly of the municipality the opportunity to enjoy tourist experiences in different destinations in the Spanish geography. The trips, which will take place between October 13, 2024 and May 20, 2025, include destinations of great cultural interest such as Lugo, Mallorca, Córdoba and Barcelona, among others.

“It is a satisfaction to be able to offer these places to our seniors, as these trips not only provide a space for rest, but also an opportunity to live together, learn and enjoy new experiences. Through this program, we continue to bet on active and healthy aging,” said Rosmen Quevedo Cabrera, Councilor for Seniors.

The program contemplates different types of stays, adapted to the needs of the participants. The options include 6-day trips for cultural stays, 8 days that combine culture and rest, and 10 days for those who wish to enjoy a longer vacation. The prices of the departures vary according to the destination and duration, ranging between €228.93 and €293.16.

The allocation of places was carried out through a rigorous accreditation system, guaranteeing that all the elderly in the municipality with an interest in participating can opt for one of the travel modalities. “The interest shown by the elderly population reflects the importance of this type of initiative. They are opportunities that not only enrich on a personal level, but also favor the integration and well-being of our elders,” added Quevedo.

The Department of Seniors will continue working to offer more activities and programs that promote the well-being of this group.
