The Argana Alta neighborhood will have a new multi-purpose sports court, as announced by the Arrecife City Council in a statement. It will be located next to the current area where the headquarters of the Security and Emergency Consortium of Lanzarote is located.

It should be remembered that the La Vida es Zuaina Sociocultural Association has called a "football league" in an open field in Argana Alta this Friday with the aim of denouncing the "lack of public, sports, leisure and free access spaces" in the neighborhood of the capital of Lanzarote.

In a statement, the association denounced that more than 2,500 young people live in Argana Alta who demand "a public court in the most populated neighborhood of Lanzarote".

For its part, the Arrecife City Council has recently completed the modernization of Tenderete Street, which connects the neighborhoods of Titerroy and Argana. The new sports facilities planned in Argana Alta, the most populated neighborhood on the island, "will have access from this neuralgic road that shows a new urban image".

The mayor of the city, Yonathan de León, and the vice president and councilor of Public Works of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Jacobo Medina, recently visited this place where this sports court will be located adapted to the demands of athletes and clubs in the neighborhood.

De León has remarked that this mandate will be where the neighborhoods will have "more and better sports facilities." From the first moment he took office as mayor, ten months ago, he launched a plan to "provide better sports facilities to the neighborhoods." As a result of this initiative, the residents of Argana Alta will "soon see the reopening of the Sports Hall, which had been closed for eleven years." The works that will allow its legalization and opening are "advancing", as a representation of the Neighborhood Association was able to verify.

Jacobo Medina, for his part, has assured that this work "will respond to a historical request from the residents of Argana Alta. The Island Public Works Area will execute this new sports court that "will soon be put out to public tender", so that as soon as possible the "young people and athletes of the most populated neighborhood of the capital have a space to practice sports", added the vice president, who also pointed out that in this way "the reactivation plan of the island's economy continues through public works".

This new space, in addition to having all the necessary elements for sports practice, will also have shade spaces and green areas that aim to beautify the urban image of the Argana Alta neighborhood that is being renovated through various municipal works.

The Arrecife City Council has launched a "renovation plan for sports facilities" with actions in the neighborhoods of San Francisco Javier, Altavista, Valterra, Titerroy, Las Salinas, Tinasoria, to which these new sports projects for Argana Alta are added, which will have a newly built multi-purpose sports area, which will complement the sports equipment with the reopening of the Sports Hall, whose works "will be completed by the end of this 2024".
