Arrecife calls an urgent plenary session in the face of a threatened power cut due to non-payment

The Arrecife City Council has called an extraordinary and urgent plenary session for 2 p.m. this Tuesday, February 20, with only one hour's notice, to approve the payment of invoices to Endesa. According to the Podemos councillor in Arrecife, Leticia Padilla, the City Council received a notice this Tuesday of a power cut in all municipal buildings starting tomorrow.

On the agenda of the plenary session, to which La Voz has had access, is the submission to a vote of the extrajudicial debt recognition contemplated in lot 3. This lot corresponds to the Endesa invoices that were already taken to the last plenary session, and that were not approved when CC, PP and the non-attached councillor Andrés Medina voted against their payment.

Already then, the capital's government group warned that, by rejecting the payment of the electricity bills, CC, PP and Andrés Medina were putting the City Council's electricity supply "at risk", a fact that was described as an "unprecedented irresponsibility" by the PSOE of Arrecife. For their part, CC and PP argued at the time that if they had voted against it, it was because the invoices had "an objection from the Intervention" and that they were not "going to be accomplices to irregularities".
