The Arrecife City Council begins this new year 2026 with a new call that will allow for an increase in the city's taxi driver workforce, with an administrative process processed last fall.

The Councilor for Transport and Mobility of the Arrecife City Council, Mario González Altuve, reports that the notice board of the electronic headquarters of the Arrecife City Council has published the list of admitted persons in the new call to be part of the selection tests for obtaining the municipal taxi driver's license in this municipality.

According to this list, **52 people have been admitted**. Those listed as excluded have a period of 10 business days, starting from their publication on this notice board, to submit any allegations they deem appropriate

From the Municipal Government led by Mayor Yonathan de León, the improvement of public taxi transport service in the city is being promoted with a series of measures. To this end, during the past year 2025, the update of taxi fares was carried out, which were among the lowest in all municipalities in Spain.

Along with the fare update, the Department of Transportation and Mobility has increased the number of testing sessions to allow taxi license holders to have more drivers, and a line of aid has been established for the sector for the incorporation of adapted vehicles for people with reduced mobility, among other improvements promoted during this term.

Councilman Mario González Altube has detailed that, during this first four-month period of the year, once these exams are completed, **the sector will have more professionals available to cover the three daily shifts**, seven days a week, which will contribute to a greater presence and rotation of taxis in the city of Arrecife.
