Citizen Alternative 25th of May will request in the next plenary session of the Cabildo, which will be held on December 1st, that the Government of the Canary Islands be urged to carry out new noise measurements in Las Caletas, to verify the emissions from the Endesa power plant.
This motion from Citizen Alternative comes after [La Voz echoed the complaints of the residents->61637], who stated that the noises were still "the same" and that they became especially "intense" at night. Thus, the residents of Las Caletas denied the version provided by Endesa, which, through the Cabildo, stated that the level of noise and gas emissions from the Punta Grande power plant is now "practically zero".
Citizen Alternative, echoing this report, requests that new measurements be taken and that they be taken "at the hours when residents say they have the greatest acoustic discomfort, in order to reliably verify the reality of the situation experienced by residents in the area". "It is paradoxical that on an island where the sun and wind are constant and free, citizens complain about the consequences derived from the use of non-renewable and polluting energies," they point out from Citizen Alternative.
Appearance of Mónica Álvarez
Likewise, the formation has requested the appearance in the plenary session of the Councilor for Security and Emergencies of the Cabildo, Mónica Álvarez, to respond to the criticisms that have been made against the work of the Consortium. Specifically, Citizen Alternative will ask for explanations about the controversy over the lack of coordination between the Fire Consortium and Emerlan and about the possible responsibilities that the Cabildo area may have in this regard.
In addition, the formation will request explanations about the dismissal of the former manager of the Security and Emergency Consortium, as well as the situation of payments to the Red Cross and also about the complaint from Asipal, regarding the lack of resources and the need to review its statutes.
Zonzamas and World Travel Market
In addition, Citizen Alternative will also ask several questions in the plenary session regarding the World Travel Market and Zonzamas. Regarding the London fair, the formation will request information on the number of people and public officials who traveled, the expenses involved in this regard, and the work carried out during the stay, specifying "the achievements made, as well as detailing the functions of the personnel and public officials who travel at the expense of this Corporation".
Likewise, regarding Zonzamas, Citizen Alternative will ask "if it is safe for the population to visit facilities that suffer uncontrolled fires every so often", given the publicly covered visits made "in recent months" to the complex.
"Does Zonzamas have any insurance in this regard? Wouldn't it be more appropriate to carry out these visits when the plant is fully operational, so that they can become aware of the entire recycling process, in addition to fully guaranteeing the health of visitors?", the party asks.
