The capital of Lanzarote will experience this Tuesday one of the most crowded days on record. The closing of the patron saint festivities of San Ginés with a great concert, and the fireworks display means that the Arrecife City Council reinforces security in the capital of Lanzarote, especially in the perimeter of its seafront, from the Theme Park to the area of the food stalls, next to the historic Puente de las Bolas.
The mayor of Arrecife, Yonathan de León, directly responsible for the Local Police, has highlighted that during the next 24 hours a special security deployment will be established with more than 100 officers from the Local Police, National Police, Civil Protection, and private security teams in addition to members of the Consortium of Security and Emergencies, and the health and ambulance support team. Personnel from the Mobility, Public Works, and Festivities Departments will also participate in this closing of the festivities.
From the Departments of Public Works and Mobility, respectively, preventive street closures and cuts will be made, following the preventive indications of the Security Plan. These closures will focus on the accesses to the Theme Park area, and along La Marina avenue to the El Reducto and Theme Park area.
Deployment of 100 officers
These San Ginés festivities are being supported by two technological systems that the Arrecife City Council has incorporated during this term: video cameras, and mobile devices for real-time identification, connected to police databases. These technological tools have been incorporated by the Local Police during the Municipal Government led by Mayor Yonathan de León. One of the great uses of these mobile devices, in addition to reading license plates and accessing vehicle information from the DGT, allows access to databases where restraining orders are registered against individuals who have suffered harassment or are victims of crimes.
From the air, the Drone Unit will monitor security by sharing in real-time the images of the thousands of attendees expected at the closing of the patron saint festivities of San Ginés, which in this 2026, where the majority of the attending population will be in the vicinity of the Arrecife Theme Park, the epicenter with the closing of David Bisbal's concert, and the subsequent fireworks display, under the escort of its launch by the Local Police of Arrecife.
Alternative parking next to Vía Medular
The Department of Mobility and Transport, led by councilor Mario González Altube, has enabled the large parking lot next to Vía Medular, with the collaboration of its owners, and has established a system of diversions and restrictions on vehicle circulation near the accesses to La Marina and the Theme Park, which will be restricted on this last day of festivities.
The PMR Zone (intended for the parking of vehicles for people with reduced mobility) will be located in the vicinity of the Theme Park, next to the Bus Interchange and the former grounds of the Municipal Cemetery.
