The Cabildo of Lanzarote commemorated this Friday the fourth anniversary of the tragic accident that occurred in 2009, on the coast of Guatiza, where 25 immigrants died, including 17 minors and two women. The Citizen Participation and Immigration and Social Welfare areas wanted to pay this tribute to remember the victims of the capsizing of this boat, just 20 meters from the Los Cocoteros area.

The act consisted of a floral offering at the monolith located in Los Cocoteros, which was erected in memory of those who died in this tragedy, which shocked Lanzarote and the entire country.

The event was attended by the first vice president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Joaquín Caraballo; the Councilor for Social Welfare, Marciano Acuña; and the Councilor for Citizen Participation and Immigration, Juan Antonio de la Hoz, among other authorities such as the councilor of Arrecife, Francisca Toledo. The island delegate of the General State Administration, María Dolores Luzardo, was also present.

Likewise, members of social groups from the island participated.
