Playa Chica was transformed last weekend with a unique Sustainable Fashion Show promoted by the Tías City Council as part of the commemoration of the 60th anniversary of Puerto del Carmen as a tourist destination. During the event, a message of reflection on the present, past, and future linked to sustainability and the local identity of the territory was launched.

The event, included in the ZEConsciente project and organized by the Tourism Department of the City Council, radiated creativity, music, dance, art, and messages of environmental awareness, and aimed to consolidate the sense of belonging and the essence of the territory.

The mayor of Tías, José Juan Cruz, emphasized the importance of involving the entire society in this reflective process about Puerto del Carmen. "We want to move towards a future that improves respect for our environment and our culture, together with a network of committed people, citizens, businesses, associations, and visitors," he said during the show.

The event consisted of a display of unique and exclusive garments created with disposable and everyday materials, giving them a second life that speaks of the relationship with the sea and the land of Puerto del Carmen, and of its 60 years as a distinct tourist destination. For example, deteriorated materials from hotel lingerie and other elements collected on the coastline were used.

The Tías City Council appreciates the great reception obtained among the attending public and highlights the support of entities such as Plus Fariones & Apartaments Hotel, direct collaborators of the event. Thanks also to the neighbors who participated as models, to the Ciclón del Atlántico association for the confection of the pieces, to the Beatrice Senent Dance School for the exquisite choreographies, to the Pueblo Maho association for ensuring the Canarian identity, Siliza Joyas del Fuego that provided the accessories, WeCreate audiovisuals, Eventos Machín Logística, FCC and the Relaxia Olivin, Sol Lanzarote and Beatriz Playa hotels for the contribution of textiles and resources for each piece made and to the Tecnosound and HiVision groups.
