The union section in the Tahiche Penitentiary Center of the Association of Bodies of the Penitentiary Institutions Administration (ACAIP), reported this Friday that "two positives for covid-19 in the Tahiche penitentiary center have forced the confinement of a module".

The inmates who have tested positive, according to ACAIP, are "two inmates who are held in residential module number five of the prison" and adds that they "have been isolated for health reasons and the department has been confined to prevent the spread of the virus to the rest of the prison population."

According to the union, "the current situation, to which must be added that more than half of the positions for health professionals are not covered, since of five doctors only two are covered and of nine nurses only four are covered by career officials, means that the health care received by the inmates of the center is not optimal."

Finally, they point out that "this situation of not having all the health personnel positions covered is not new in the prison, as has already been denounced on several occasions, both in the press and before the General Secretariat of Penitentiary Institutions, although it is true that it has worsened since August when one of the doctors who worked in the prison resigned from his position, leaving it vacant."
