Three hotels in Lanzarote were awarded this Tuesday, January 17 at Fitur, Paradisus Salinas Lanzarote, Cesar Eco hotel boutique and Hotel Fariones. The president of the Tourism Federation (FTL) and Asolan, Susana Perez, attended, together with the mayor of Tías, José Juan Saavedra and Héctor Fernández, CEO TurismoLanzarote-SPEL, to the presentation of the Rethink Hotel Awards, at the headquarters of the Secretary of Tourism, awards for sustainability and rehabilitation in the Spanish hotel sector. With these recognitions, "the firm commitment of the business sector to sustainability and hotel renovation is demonstrated", says the Tourism Federation.
The president of the Lanzarote Tourism Federation will hold different meetings with companies that are members of the Federation and representatives of the sector who have traveled to Ifema and will attend the agenda of meetings scheduled by the Cabildo de Lanzarote-Turismo Lanzarote with different agents of the tourism industry throughout this Wednesday.
During these meetings, the Lanzarote Tourism Federation will especially address air connectivity, paying special attention to connectivity with the peninsula. Lanzarote's connectivity data with the peninsular market have increased substantially. In the winter season, Lanzarote has gone from 46 weekly flights 2019/22 to 80 weekly flights in the current winter season, 22/23. The tourist figures, accumulated data until November 2022, place national tourism as the second issuing market, placing it ahead of the German and Irish markets.
"Lanzarote is placing itself in a leading position in the peninsular market compared to other competing destinations and we have to continue to promote this positive trend that has emerged after the pandemic," says the President of the tourism association.
"From the Federation we will continue working to improve connectivity with our island, a greater offer of routes and area places improves our competitiveness as a destination, allows us to reach new tourist profiles and market niches," Pérez stressed.
The Lanzarote Tourism Federation (FTL) also attends the International Fair, paying special attention to innovation and sustainability as central axes in the agenda scheduled for the three days of the Fair.
This Wednesday the VII Edition of the CaixaBank Hotels & Tourism Awards will also be presented, awards for innovation and hotel modernization promoted by CaixaBank and the hotel associations of the Canary Islands, Ashotel, Feht, Asolan and Asofuer, at the stand of the Canary Islands and with the presence of the President D. Angel Victor Torres and the Minister of Tourism, Dña. Yaiza Castilla.
The President of the Tourism Federation and Asolan will be present at Fiturtech participating in the round table "Biontrend: No data, no Paradise" together with members of the hotel sector from other national business organizations, such as Nuria Montes from Hosbec, Oriol Bonet from Gremi Hotels or Javier García from the Hotel Technological Institute (ITH) among others.
Regarding Sustainability, Susana Pérez will hold a meeting with the team of the Institute of Responsible Tourism (ITR) who, together with other Biosphere destinations, will share experiences and address the new challenges that can contribute to extending tourism sustainability in an international scenario.
