The vice president of Las Inadaptadas, Rita Ferrer, spoke on Radio Lanzarote-Onda Cero this Thursday morning to talk about the collapse of the stands at the Recinto Ferial this Wednesday during the third phase of the Arrecife murgas contest, where three women members of the murga were involved, one of them eight and a half months pregnant. "It's a bittersweet feeling because while we were celebrating the pass to the final, suddenly what happened happened. We still can't believe it, it's all like a dream. It was a tremendous chaos," Ferrer pointed out.

"Two literally fell to the ground from the stands from a height of 5 or 6 meters and, the third, the pregnant girl, is the girl who was hanging and whom the colleagues who were next to her literally grabbed and pulled up," explains Ferrer.

As soon as the accident occurred, "Civil Protection and the security and emergency services that were there set to work to attend to them and take the three to the hospital. The first to leave was the little girl who had suffered minor injuries despite being one of those who fell. She received a blow to the wrist and, of course, she is now bruised and this morning she had pain in her hip, so she went to the hospital again to have more tests done," says the vice president of Las Inadaptadas.

The second to leave was the pregnant woman. "She left last night after having all the tests done. The only thing she had was high blood pressure, but the baby, luckily, is perfect," says Ferrer.

"The third is the one who came out the worst. She is still in the hospital and has a fracture in a branch of the pelvis. She is waiting for further tests to rule out possible internal bleeding and, in principle, everything is progressing well. But of course, it is a somewhat delicate injury because she will have to rest for a while," says the vice president of the murga.

Once they are "calm and rested", Ferrer points out that the three women will take legal action. "We are now finding out how to proceed because someone has to take responsibility for what has happened. They will particularly present their complaints in court and we are going to support them in whatever they need":

Finally, from the murga Las Inadaptadas they want to thank "the security and emergency services, the people and the politicians who got involved, especially Encarna Páez, for having worried about the health of the girls".

"We have to know who approved that stand"

The Councilor for Security and Police maintains that "now we have to find out who signed the report that ensured that the stands were in good condition" because "what is done when there is an event is that Festivities hires an engineer to draft the plan and then the messages are certified, with the approvals of the companies and the positive reports. There are many Areas that sign and, finally, the Councilor for Activities signs," explains Lemes.

"We have to know who approved that stand, where it came from. But now there are many questions in the air because it has been very recent. For the moment the stands are still sealed and today the technicians will assess whether it is necessary to remove it for the next events," concludes the Councilor for Security and Police.
