Haría registers winds of up to 85 km/h in a dawn marked by rains, rough seas and forecast of improvement from midday

News:
Storm Therese has lashed Lanzarote during the early hours of this Friday, March 20, leaving an episode of strong winds and rainfall that has forced the yellow alert to be maintained throughout the island.

According to data recorded by the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet), the Haría station reached maximum gusts of 85 kilometers per hour, followed by Tinajo with 68 km/h, La Graciosa with 67 km/h, Lanzarote Airport with 61 km/h, Tías with 51 km/h, and Yaiza with 44 km/h.

As for the forecast for the rest of the day, Aemet reports that Lanzarote will remain under yellow warning for rain, wind and rough seas, with combined sea from the northwest of between 4 and 5 meters.

Nevertheless, a progressive improvement is expected from midday, when the skies will tend to partly cloudy and the precipitation will subside. Temperatures will experience a slight to moderate rise, while the southwest wind, initially moderate to strong with probable very strong gusts, will gradually die down during the afternoon.

This meteorological episode has generated specific complications, especially in areas exposed to the wind, although without for the moment serious incidents having been reported.
