The seven town councils of Lanzarote have issued decrees suspending activities for the afternoon

The storm that is affecting Lanzarote during this Monday has forced the closure of sports and cultural facilities and the suspension of outdoor activities throughout the island to avoid possible risks. As reported by the Cabildo, the seven town councils have issued decrees suspending their activities for the afternoon due to the current alert for adverse weather events,

The Lanzarote Security and Emergency Consortium urges citizens to take extreme precautions, especially in coastal areas, to avoid outdoor activities as much as possible and to call 112 in the event of any emergency. Likewise, citizens of Lanzarote are reminded that they will be informed of the evolution of the alert through the media.

In the case of the Arrecife City Council, it is indicated that, given the orange warning for coastal phenomena in Lanzarote due to waves of up to seven meters and the yellow warning for winds with gusts of up to 80 kilometers per hour, as a preventive measure, extracurricular, sports and recreational activities have been suspended in municipal facilities from this Monday afternoon until a new date, depending on the evolution of these meteorological phenomena.

The Councilor for Emergencies and Security of the Arrecife City Council, Eduardo Placeres Reyes, has asked the population to remain attentive to the media to know the evolution of the weather and avoid approaching coastal areas or making maritime trips.

In the case of the Tías City Council, a decree has been issued suspending "all activity" planned in municipal sports, cultural and leisure facilities. In addition, "activities planned outdoors on public roads and facilities" are also canceled. This closure will remain in place "until the impact of the expected adverse weather events is assessed."

In the case of the yellow wind warning, it will initially be active until 10 p.m. on Monday night. As for the orange warning for coastal phenomena, it will continue until 10 a.m. on Tuesday. There it will drop to yellow, maintaining the pre-alert until 8 p.m.
