At seven in the morning, the ringing of the bells announced to the fishing district of Valterra the day of its Patron Saint, Nuestra Señora del Carmen. Little by little some neighbors arrived and at the entrance door to the church the parish priest, Nicanor Bermúdez, welcomed them to begin with the prayer of the "Rosary of the Aurora". Once finished, the procession took place inside the temple with the image of the Virgin.

Later at 11.30 am the first Eucharist of the day began, where the earliest risers participated honoring the Patron Saint of sailors.

In the afternoon at 7:30 p.m. the Solemn Eucharist was held, celebrated by Eduardo Pérez, parish priest in Aranda de Duero in the province of Burgos, and Nicanor Bermúdez, parish priest of Valterra, both assisted by the seminarian, Daniel Romero. The songs were directed by Professor Carmen Dolores Rodríguez.

At the end of the Eucharist, the procession took place inside the church and during the tour, mixed with the songs, the cheers and compliments to the Virgin were heard. On this occasion, the image went out to the door of the church where the members of the "Iris del Mar" choir were waiting for her, who presented her with a song, a final prayer ending with the Salve Marinera. Afterwards, the members of the Cultural Association Murga Los Simplones, under the direction of Quique Martín, performed a song with lyrics full of hope and with the illusion that all this will pass and next year they will return as before.

One more year the Virgen Marinera, Patron Saint of Valterra, did not travel the streets of the neighborhood nor will she sail the seas as in previous years along the Arrecife coastline due to the pandemic.
