The Mercedes Medina Díaz Association donates to two families in La Palma

The Mercedes Medina Díaz Association has donated to two families from the CEIP Todoque, in La Palma, who have been affected by the Cumbre Vieja volcano.

The donation was collected through the “solidarity piggy bank” that the association installed during the celebration of its tenth anniversary conference, and corresponds to the voluntary contributions that attendees made for the acquisition of the publication “X Anniversary 2011-21”, which summarizes “the set of solidarity activities carried out during this decade”.

According to reports from the association, for the delivery of the donation they had "the generous collaboration of Cáritas of the Parish of Nuestra Señora de Los Remedios de Los Llanos de Aridane, through its coordinator Francisco Javier Acosta and with the collaborator of this association on that island, José Antonio Martín Corujo".

Cáritas chose two families residing in the vicinity of the volcano, who lost “all their assets and jobs”. Both families, unable to avoid emotion, were “very grateful” and conveyed their gratitude “to the donors”, in tremendously complex moments that have been experienced in this area of the island for almost 80 days.
