Isabel Medina Peralta, the young woman who has risen to fame after her anti-Semitic speech at the event held in memory of those who fell in the Blue Division last Saturday in Madrid's La Almudena cemetery, said today in statements to LA PROVINCIA that she is "surprised" by the impact of her words. As a result of her speech, her followers on her Twitter account went from 4,000 to 12,000 in a few days. The little bird's social network suspended her account this Wednesday for violating Twitter's rules, including expressing hatred against a person, group or protected category.

"Normally my speech does not resonate with so many people. Maybe I receive four criticisms or four praises, but my words did not reach so many people or so many media, as has happened," said Medina, who is 18 years old, was born in Madrid and lived in Lanzarote for a year, coinciding with her second year of high school studies at IES Playa Honda, in the municipality of San Bartolomé. She points out that the tranquility that Lanzarote gave her, where everyday life takes place at a more leisurely pace compared to the big cities, and the period of confinement due to the coronavirus pandemic, helped her to continue delving into her ideas.

"What I say, I study and think about it beforehand and I do not regret it and if I knew it was going to sink in, I would have said it anyway," the young woman stresses. The Community of Madrid urged the Prosecutor's Office to investigate whether anti-Semitic cries were shouted during the concentration in La Almudena after the Platform against Anti-Semitism and Movement against Intolerance denounced the events.
