The heat and haze will continue this Monday in Lanzarote

Temperatures could exceed 34 degrees in inland areas

October starts with a lot of heat and haze. The Government of the Canary Islands, through the General Directorate of Emergencies, has declared a pre-alert situation for maximum temperatures in the Canary Islands, starting this Sunday and continuing this Monday, October 2. 

This decision is made taking into account the available information and in application of the Specific Emergency Plan of the Canary Islands for Risks of Adverse Meteorological Phenomena (PEFMA).

This Sunday there will be intervals of high clouds. The haze will mainly affect inland areas and slopes facing southeast. As for temperatures, 30-32 ºC will be reached locally, especially in inland areas. The wind will be light to moderate from the northeast, which will intensify from the afternoon, and which in inland areas will turn to a moderate easterly component during the central hours of the day.

Monday, October 2

 

For this Monday, the haze will remain at altitude, tending to decrease on the surface. As for the temperatures, they will experience a slight increase in inland areas of the southeast slope of the island where they may exceed 34 ºC.  The wind will blow moderately from the northeast, which in inland areas will turn to a moderate easterly component during the central hours of the day.
