The Cabildo of Lanzarote is holding a new workshop on behavioral disorders this Friday, November 29, at the Senior Center of Puerto del Carmen, from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. This talk, included within the Geriatrics Month by Month Program, will be given by Silvia Camino Ramos, clinical psychologist and expert in Gerontology, who will delve into this behavioral alteration with practical cases.
The initiative, designed to improve the well-being of the elderly and dependent people on the island, as well as that of their caregivers, is carried out in collaboration with the Canary Society of Geriatrics and Gerontology (SOCANGER) and seeks to offer training and resources to alleviate the workload and facilitate their occupation.
Specifically, the objective of this session is to delve into what a behavioral disorder is, and above all, what it is not. Likewise, with the help of Ramos, attendees will learn about the meaning, origin and background of emotions.
The Minister of Social Welfare and Inclusion, Marci Acuña, points out that "knowing how to interpret our emotions is essential to be able to manage them and prevent them from going further or triggering a trauma or disorder. This talk will be an opportunity to clarify myths and doubts about this disease that affects both the person who suffers from it and their closest circle."
During the session, the symptoms manifested by people suffering from a behavioral disorder will be addressed with practical cases, offering useful resources and strategies to recognize and manage this disease that can develop from 10 years of age.
Participation is free and open to all interested people.
