The Feminist Platform 8M Lanzarote requests an island table to stop "sexual assaults and chemical submission" faced by women, a request that has taken place after learning that the Civil Guard is investigating the first "prick" on the island.

"We ask that our Cabildo organize an island table with the presence of all the City Councils, and with the support of the Government of the Canary Islands, to stop violence against women. We must raise awareness among citizens about the responsibility of the attackers, the solution is not for women and girls to stay at home, if anyone should be expelled from public leisure spaces it is the criminals who cause the damage", they explain.

The objective is that "information and public resources are shared, as well as committing security forces to try to stop attacks and any type of intimidation against women", they say from the platform.

"We women grow up from girls and always live on guard against possible sexual assaults and Lanzarote is not free from this violence, it is a fact that there are rapes on the island", says the group. "There are also cases of women who report how their drinks have been contaminated with narcotic substances in leisure centers on this island, to which we must add the new form of aggression and macho intimidation towards women through punctures."

"It is clear that they want us to be afraid, us and our girls, there is no shortage of reasons to rebel against this violence and not take a step back in rights and freedoms", they add.
