The Council of Ministers will approve a new regulation on the use of masks on April 19, whereby they will no longer be mandatory in all indoor spaces, except in health and social health centers and transport. The measure will enter into force one day later, on April 20.

This was explained by the Minister of Health, Carolina Darias, in a recess of the ordinary Interterritorial Council of the National Health System meeting this Wednesday in Toledo, in which she communicated to the councilors her intention to present a new royal decree law in the first Council of Ministers after the Easter holidays.

The new rule will be published in the BOE one day later and will immediately enter into force, the minister added.

Darias has advanced that the face mask will no longer be mandatory indoors with the exception of "those spaces in which there may be people with vulnerability", while in others it will be a "recommendation of responsible use, especially when there are crowds of people and when it comes to vulnerable people". In the school environment, she replied that "of course" it will no longer be necessary to wear a mask, although teachers with vulnerability factors will be advised to wear one.

According to Darias, this flexibilization is possible because "fortunately", Spain has a "very high level of immunization" and an epidemiological situation "in a favorable context", so they have made this decision "with the advice of experts".
