The Maritime-Fishing Professional Training Institute of the Canary Islands (Fishing School) of Arrecife, hosted the ceremony of awarding the title of "Conejero of the Year", the highest distinction awarded by the Rotary Club Lanzarote, to Mr. Isidro Joaquín Pérez Betancort, Quino Pérez, director of the CEE Nuestra Señora de Los Volcanes.
The event brought together representatives of various institutions and social groups, highlighting among them the presence of the Second Vice President of the Cabildo, Marcos Bergaz, and the Mayor of Arrecife, Astrid Pérez, who in her speech praised "the absolute dedication of Quino Pérez to the intellectual disability community, his honesty, his humanity and great solidarity."
Rotary Club Lanzarote
The philanthropic association, Rotary Club, is present on five continents, has more than 32,000 clubs and 1,300,000 members, who promote solidarity initiatives. In Lanzarote, since its establishment in 1991, the Rotarians have promoted multiple solidarity initiatives in favor of groups such as Afa; Afol; Calor y Café; Cáritas; Adislan; Afacoda or El Cribo, among others.
This Rotary year, 2020-2021, is chaired by Rita Martín Pérez, under whose direction the award of "Conejero of the Year" has been granted, an distinction institutionalized by this club, which rewards and recognizes the contribution of outstanding personalities of the Island, or entities that have promoted economic, social or cultural development in recent decades.
