The Plaza de la Constitución of the Villa de Teguise, popularly known as Plaza de los Leones, hosted this Saturday the celebration of the festivity of Our Lady of the Pillar, patron saint of the Civil Guard, a body that commemorates the 175th anniversary of its foundation. A celebration in which the Chief Captain of the Civil Guard Company of Costa Teguise, Pablo de los Santos Granados, highlighted "with pride" that "today in Lanzarote it is safer to live" by reducing "considerably" criminal offenses in 2018 compared to the previous year and also between January and September 2019 compared to the past year.
These figures, detailed the Chief Captain, not only related to the overall calculation of the company, but also in each of the demarcations of the four main posts (Costa Teguise, San Bartolomé, Tías and Yaiza) that make up the deployment of citizen security units on the Island.

The award ceremony distinguished ten civil guards from the main posts of Costa Teguise, Tías, Yaiza and San Bartolomé and from the Arrecife Traffic detachment.
The recognition with the highest rank of those awarded last day, the Silver Cross with White Decoration of the Order of Merit of the Civil Guard, was for the civil guard Daniel Díaz González (San Bartolomé Post and Rapid Intervention Group 3). This agent suffered a brutal aggression, from which he still has sequelae, when he tried to identify together with other colleagues, one of whom was also attacked, the participants in the brawl that occurred at six in the morning on July 22, 2017 in a house in the town of La Santa, coinciding with the celebration of the Carmen festivities.
On the other hand, the First Corporal Jorge González Antón (Fiscal and Borders Patrol of Costa Teguise) and Plácido Miguel Renda Varela (Main Post of Costa Teguise) and the civil guards Luis Seoane Ortega (Main Post of Yaiza) and Francisco Javier García Vargas (Main Post of Tías) received the Cross with White Decoration of the Order of Military Merit.
On this occasion, the civil guards Francisco Jesús Sueza Espejo (Main Post of San Bartolomé), with 27 years of experience in the body, since 2015 assigned to Lanzarote and "without unfavorable notes" in his career, according to detailed; Federico Sales Moreno (Main Post of Yaiza), Antonio Tuya Gálvez (Main Post of Yaiza), Miguel Ángel Fernández Peláez (Arrecife Traffic Detachment) and Joel Sánchez Curbelo (Main Post of Yaiza) were recognized with the Cross with White Decoration of the Order of Merit of the Civil Guard.
