The Councilor for Animal Welfare of the Haría City Council, Marcos Lemes, intervened this Monday morning on Radio Lanzarote - Onda Cero to explain the situation of the cat that was found "agonizing" and tied to a sack in a garbage container in Arrieta last Wednesday.
The councilor has stated that "this is a regrettable event", since the animal was located with a leg tied and a strong stick on its head. The cat died last Saturday, after losing an eye and a leg.
"I still get goosebumps when I remember the animal", Marcos Lemes indicated during his intervention. In this line, he has stated that he is "amazed" with the "uncivil behavior" that exists in the municipality with animals.
For the moment, the City Council has already transferred the case to the Nature Protection Service (SEPRONA) of the Civil Guard to clarify what happened and try to stop the attacks against animals.
