The Casa-Museo Monumento al Campesino hosted this Sunday the commemorative event of the International Volunteer Day. A special edition since it could not be celebrated last year due to the pandemic. The president of the Consortium, Marcos Bergaz, took the floor to thank the work of the volunteers who carry out for the benefit of society and especially during the pandemic.

On this occasion, the Cabildo of Lanzarote has published the book "Civil Protection in Lanzarote" written by the journalist Saúl García, which collects the history of volunteering on the island from its origin to the present.

Representatives of all the protections of the island and La Graciosa received a painting, a book and a basket with Christmas products. In addition to Marcos Bergaz, the mayors of Tías, José Juan Cruz Saavedra, San Bartolomé, Isidro Pérez and Víctor Robayna, mayor of Haría, the deputy mayor of Teguise, Miguel Ángel Jiménez, the councilor of La Graciosa, Alicia Páez and the councilor of Tinajo, Yurena Cubas, were also present.

The gala ended with the song "Hero" performed by the wonderful voice of Juan Carlos Martínez who was accompanied by the teacher Javier Díaz on the piano.

Later all the attendees enjoyed a delicious dinner.
