The president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, María Dolores Corujo, has expressed her regret and that of the Corporation for the death of Carlos Manrique Cabrera and wanted to send her condolences to his family and friends.

Likewise, María Dolores Corujo has had words of affection for the César Manrique Foundation, with which the deceased maintained a close and cordial relationship.

Corujo highlighted that over the last few years, the vitality and restless spirit of Carlos Manrique had led him to take an interest in and show his concern for the degradation of some spaces, especially in the island's capital, recalling his words in the proclamation of the San Ginés festivities of 2019:

"In the year of the centenary of the birth of our brother, of Uncle César for his nephews, of the Manrique that each one carries inside, it seems fair to me to ask the authorities to take care of and preserve his work, and to all of us to follow his example of commitment to art, culture, the territory and life. In this, his Foundation is exemplary.

In this centenary year and onwards, I also hope that the Government of the Canary Islands, the Cabildo and the town councils will not abandon the path of dialogue and close cooperation that they have just undertaken with the César Manrique Foundation, because, in all sincerity, it is the only way to respect his memory and his legacy, and to successfully face our common future."
