After the controversy sparked by the images of some young people driving recklessly with their bicycles through various parts of Arrecife, those involved have reacted by showing their point of view regarding what happened. This Monday afternoon they have contacted La Voz to offer their version of the events and clarify that "they are not criminals". "We only want a place to practice the sport without anyone being in danger," one of them told the newspaper.

This extreme sport called Stunt Bike originated in the United States in the 80s, where young people gathered in abandoned parking lots to test their skills on their motorcycles. Something that gradually spread to Europe and also reached Latin America, although it has not been recognized as a sports discipline by the federations. This sport is related to motorcycle practice, although it has also been expanded to be done riding a bicycle.

"All we do is have fun," said another of them. They clarify that they will be able to respond in case there is any mishap. "If we do any damage, we will be the first to take responsibility, we are mature enough for that," the boy pointed out. They make it clear that there will be no problems with the practice of the sport. "We know that we are not going to cause damage, we are professionals."

From the group of teenagers residing in Lanzarote, between 9 and 17 years old, they demand an area enabled to be able to do it without endangering the lives of pedestrians and drivers. According to what they have told the newspaper, they already made the relevant claim to the Arrecife City Council, although finally, the option offered by the Council "did not meet their needs". "They gave us a piece of bike lane between the Airport and the Playa Honda Institute, but we had to stop going due to excessive wind," recalled one of the athletes. In addition, the lack of time also contributes to "not making it possible" for them to come to practice it. "We all live in Arrecife and we don't have time to travel to practice it every day, between two or three hours," said a young man.

They are clear that they want to continue preparing for the sport they are passionate about. "Our goal is to be able to realize the dream we have been fighting for for years," another of them specified.
